Yarmouth Harbour is one of the most ancient and picturesque ports in southern England, but it is also a busy ferry port and yacht harbour, handling 18,000 overnight visiting yachts and more than 16,000 ferry movements a year. In the busy summer season Yarmouth Harbour employs up to 30 people running the office, running reception for visitors, allocating berths, operating the water taxi, operating the ferry linkspan and maintaining the harbour facilities.

The Issue

Yarmouth Harbour were running a network of PCs, but needed to upgrade to a server installation to improve the service and speed.

Cemoc Solution

Cemoc installed the first server network of 15 PCs running on a Microsoft Small Business Server infrastructure in 2006 and has provided Total System Support under contract ever since.

Results

Yarmouth Harbour now have a robust and fast system that fills their current IT requirements, including providing WIFI internet access to harbour users. “We selected Cemoc because they were of sufficient size to be able to provide the service we required, and we judged that they were up-to-date with current technology and the price was right” says Chris Lisher, Yarmouth Harbourmaster, “I’ll always argue about price, but they’re pretty reasonable and they stick to it.” Tracy Cooper adds “Matt and Robin have been superb — they always find a way to resolve the problem”
