The Client


Spinlock design and manufacture leisure marine equipment. Best known for their award-winning rope handling technology, the company also produces personal safety equipment and boat hardware for boats from dinghies to superyachts, including many thoroughbred racing yachts. The products manufactured in Cowes are exported worldwide. In order to operate efficiently with a small team, Spinlock have invested heavily in IT. The company has around 40 staff on three sites; the headquarters in Cowes, manufacturing in Cowes and a sales office in America. The HQ and manufacturing sites are linked via secure VPN. Thin Client PCs and a Citrix environment accessible both internally and via secure internet connection enables all users to access the company’s ERP system.


The Issue


Having historically run everything in-house, in 2008 Spinlock decided to appoint a support service in order to free-up staff time and provide more comprehensive cover. Cemoc was chosen following a widespread quote process.


Cemoc Solution


Spinlock uses Cemoc’s Total System Support for simple IT problems such as installing printers, as well as supporting the Vantage software and their network of both physical and virtual servers and around 25 PCs.


Results


Spinlock are now discussing the next three year plan with Cemoc, including taking the ERP support to the next level and looking at hardware and software investments.
