The Client

Enabling Technologies Consulting Engineers (ETCEL) provide specialist design and consulting to the aerospace, wind and marine industries worldwide. Formed in 2001, the company is active in a range of disciplines including design, R&D, analysis, testing, certification, crash investigation and expert witness for advanced composites and metallic materials. End customers include Airbus, Vestas and Rolls Royce.

The Issue

ETCEL operates from offices on the Isle of Wight and in Surrey with 10 staff. They brought in Cemoc in 2006 when they decided to upgrade to a server network.

Cemoc Solution

Cemoc recommended a Microsoft Small Business Server infrastructure using Dell PowerEdge hardware. A requirement was for users to be able to work from remote sites and this has been achieved with the use of secure VPNs. Data loss and down time are two key issues for ETCEL, and as part of the implementation Cemoc created a tape back-up system and incorporated their existing storage server.

Results

ETCEL now have a robust and powerful network that enables the organisation to work effectively on several sites. "It’s nice knowing the people. We now have a good relationship and they probably know our systems better than we do. Every time there is an issue I can get them on the phone and they talk me through it, or they can be on site within 24 hours” says Matt Hodges of Enabling Technologies
